Baden Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking new members!

The Baden VFD is now focusing on new ways to recruit and retain members.  As of 03/11/2010, we have 46 members, of which 8 are probationary members.  While call volume is not always high, there is always a need for new members to protect and serve the community, and to carry out the traditions of the department.

The work is not always easy, and no one said it would be, but by becoming a volunteer firefighter, you will instill in yourself a sense of pride and dignity knowing that you are helping to save the lives and property of your community.

The first step to becoming a member of the Baden Volunteer Fire Department, is to print out an application (or pick one up from the borough office), and turn it in for review.  From there, the Board of Directors will contact you for an initial interview.  Once approved, the application will be submitted for a vote by the members of the Department.  All votes are confidential and destroyed after being counted.  From there, you will receive a phone call with the Departments decision.

If you are approved, you will then become a probationary member.  It is your goal to complete all probationary requirements and to absorb as much information as you can.  Some things you will look forward to completing are your Essentials trainings.  These trainings teach you the basics of firefighting, and once certified, will enable you to take more classes and get more certifications.  Completing essentials is a requirement for you to become an 'active' member.  There are several trainings offered at the department every month, and you will be encouraged to attend as many as possible.  You must maintain a certain attendance percentage during your probation, and will be expected to maintain your attendance as an active member as well.

Being a volunteer organization, there are several opportunities you can pursue as a member.  We do not have seperate divisions or 'companies', everyone should be as proficient as possible in every aspect of the department, but this will not always hold true.  You will never be forced to do something that you are uncomfortable doing, so if ladders aren't your thing, don't worry!

There are also several administrative jobs and committees you can volunteer for, and plenty of ways to get involved!

Firefighting is not for everyone, but If you feel this is your calling, and wish to pursue a volunteer career with us, please complete the first step of the process and fill out an application, we look forward to serving with you!

If you have any questions or concerns, please refer to the FAQ and see if they have already been addressed, if not, we will gladly help you decide if being a volunteer firefighter is right for you!
