The Baden Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce our 2011-2012 State Grant has been recently awarded. The department was awarded $12,297.83.  This amount was significantly increased this year primarily due to the  eighteen newly certified members at Firefighter 1 level.  

This grant will be used to purchase valuable firefighting and life saving equipment.  Some of the equipment that will be purchased includes: telescopic hydraulic rams for vehicle extrication, patient packaging equipment, traffic safety equipment, life-safety rope and rigging equipment fire stream appliances, and additional firefighter rehabilitation and accountability equipment.

Pennsylvania makes an annual grant program available to the state’s volunteer fire, ambulance, and rescue organizations to help them improve and enhance their capabilities to provide their services.

The program is managed by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, whose staff reviews and approves or disapproves all applications based on applicant and project criteria, and processes signed grant agreements and authorizes dispersal of grant funds. Final grant reports are reviewed for compliance with project description and program guidelines.
